Okay, not sure what to call this, a 3 wheeler Harley for the military?

  1. 'Trike' will do fine. This one with the large displacement 'Knucklehead' engine never made it past the prototype stage, as the US Army figured out that a Jeep was way better than a motorcycle for frontline service.

    1. '...better than a motorcycle for frontline service,' and yet the Allied Forces (including the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Army Air Corps) used tens of thousands of Harley-Davidson WLAs, Indians, Matchless, Royal Enfields, Triumphs and others throughout the European and Pacific Theatres, and had a purpose-built Harley - the BMW-derived XA Model - developed for the fighting in Africa. The fighting there ended before production began, and only a thousand of the XA were ever produced. The trike may not have made sense to the military brass, because anywhere a trike could go a jeep could go as well, carrying more personnel or materiel, but solo rides were invaluable to frontline troops for a wide range of purposes.
