the only factory production twin engine, all wheel drive car ever made. The Citroen 2CV made in 1961

  1. Hi Jesse

There were other twin engine four wheel drive cars, such as the Twini

And Mercedes-Benz also made a few W168 A Classes (not released in the US but in Europe and Australia fortunately) with an engine in the front and rear and four wheel drive. There happens to be one in a collection in Melbourne, Australia which I saw last year.

Having said that, neither of the above examples were serious production cars, all being producted in limited numbers. In that context, if Citroen produced the 2CV in volume and available from the dealer then it may well be the only series production twin engine four wheel drive can.

Love your blog, thanks for your hard work Jesse,

    1. Right, I don't get cautious and specific in the words I use, not enough to be clear that when I say "made" I mean factory production... most people understand it. If I said "created" then I mean custom one off fabrications for shows, publicity, etc. Thanks!

Probably not the only twin engine 4wd car made, but maybe the only one available from the factory?

Several twin engined Minis were built in the 1960s and a Google search shows a more recent one (2002) that Jay Leno had a look at. I remember there was an Olds Toronado with an extra engine in the back built up in the late 1960s.
