the Nashville museum, Frist Center for the Arts just opened a car exhibit, and the Lincoln Indianapolis Boano Coupe is on display. Made for the 1955 Turin Auto Show, the exterior is classic Italian redesigned 50s American luxo barge, but the dash - is amazing

If the only photo you were to see was the above, you might be thinking, "how interesting, and unique, they spelled out the model "Indianapolis" across the dash, That's nice. The wrap around black contrast stripe was also a good design choice aesthetically... "

But you wouldn't appreciate the fine work involved in making the hideaway instrument panel until you see this photo

Henry Ford II commissioned Carrozeria Boano to prove that Ford’s products could be as stylish as concepts being produced by Chrysler and Carrozeria Ghia. The decision is subjective, as the roof wasn't straight, the fenders were an inch different in length, and the panel gaps around the hood were pretty bad. But it's an incredible 20 footer. During restoration a half a barrel of lead filler was removed.

The display from May 27 through October 9, 2016 entitled Bellissima! The Italian Automotive Renaissance, 1945–1975, will be on view in the Center’s Ingram Gallery, Nashville Tennessee,
celebrating the visual dynamism and spirit of innovation characterizing Italian coachbuilt cars, concept cars and motorcycles produced during the post–World War II economic revival.

Guest curator Ken Gross has chosen 18 vehicles and three motorcycles from private collections and museums that are among the finest examples of Italian automotive design.
