Question. Would you be in favor of cameras at the gas pumps running your plates for registration and more importantly, car insurance? If a car has no insurance, the gas pump won't work for them

in the UK, 1 in 25 drivers do not have insurance - one of the worst records in western Europe.

According to recent figures, around 160 people are killed and 23,000 injured by uninsured and untraced drivers every year.

According to a 2009 USA Today study, 1 in 7 in the USA does not have car insurance, and only New Hampshire does not have compulsory insurance laws, but they have less than the average number of uninsured, and less than half of the number of uninsured as Tennessee, or Florida, or Mississippi

  1. kinda too much intrusive big brother... What if a cop was at the gas station and ran the plates instead? Would it be more appropriate for a human to be there, doing the job they get paid to do, and if anything else comes up, they are out in the community to be a fast response to that...? Plus, there would be a lot fewer gas stations getting robbed

  2. I'm in favor of the the previous ownwr of a vehicle not being able to register a new vehicle if back registration or failing to register non op status is on their record. It should be their fault and I shouldnt be penalized for unknown back registration. Anyone agree?

    1. off topic, but yeah, I agree. Sticking the new owner of a vehicle with all the back taxes when the DMV knows how to get ahold of the person responsible for no paying their taxes, is bullshit.

  3. Yeah it was a little topic but it could work especially if the applicant is there is person and dmv says, no we cant let you register this vehicle until the old fees are paid. As for the gas station idea what if you had a 49cc vehicle or you were getting a gas can filled up on foot.

    1. getting uninsured motorists off the road is a darn good idea. It's got nothing to do with gas cans and 49cc bikes. Let them fill up, it won't change matters any
