“It’s just a fitting thing for this kind of car,” says Anderson. “The car is just kind of made for (snowmobile conversion), being rear-engine and rear-wheel drive. I just had to try it out.”
Anderson built the car out of his garage with the help of friendly neighbours. It is fully functional and can reach speeds of 65 km/h. Anderson operates Autobahn Tuning in Manotick in south Ottawa, specializing in repairing, restoring and modifying European cars.
The tracks are from a side-by-side ATV, which Anderson adapted to fit the hubs of the Smart car. The skis were then designed and laser cut to fit the new and improved snowmobile.
