the difference between old Harleys and old Suzukis.... no one wants an old Suzuki

  1. Not until Harley was re-bought from AMC or whatever that company is called- did Harley fans buy with confidence in their old love. I have seen people SHOOT their older hogs for not starting and shot again for leaking so much. As for Suzukis? I had a 1000. No superbike, no racer, just a nice, clean and very fast motorcycle. Thing is- it started everytime! What's a man to do?

    1. Yes there were a lot of junk Harleys in the 70's 80's... but the ones older than the 60's are so prized and in such incredible high demand by old white guys in the US... they go to crazy lengths to keep a knuckle head on the road. Not every Suzuki was disposable, but every one in this junkyard was. I bet they were completely used up too... no one in Asia parts with anything that can still ride with repairs.

  2. The photo is from China, so there's probably not one single Suzuki in that junkyard. Still, back in the 1980s H-D ran an ad with a mc junkyard, the byline being something like 'can you find a Harley here (of course you can't)'.

    1. if you'll tell me what is in that junkyard, I'll use that instead of Suzuki... k? Fair enough? I made a joke... it's supposed to be funny. And you can bet that there aren't any BMWs, Harleys, Triumphs, etc in that pile... it's disposable bikes. 2. Jess, your funny. I'll say it this way. It doesn't matter what you ride, if you don't take care of it, it ends up in the junk yard. Admittedly, HD has lots of parts still available to them because of their popularity, and also a design that still is pretty much the same for the last several decades. I don't take any offense at what you posted here Jesse. And I own a "Jap" bike which has planed obsolescence designed right into it. But for now my CB 750 K6 is a good little runner, and fortunately still popular. ;)

    3. I am trying to be funny... it doesn't always work, as the readers are so diverse... some are purists, some are hardcore, some are horseless carriage types, some are pure stock drags, it's Rv'rs and off roaders, Monster Truck and F1... I put up a bit of everything, and try for enough humor to ease everyones day a bit. Most of the time it's only something a small few get a kick out of. Oh well. You're right, some thigns will last forever if treated right, but some things were never going to make it, Pintos and Bobcats, Olds Skyhawks, Omnis and Cirrus. There were some things that were designed to be limited life, and a lot of the Japanese bikes of the 60's and 70's fit that description. The AMF HDs were junk, everyone agrees... I don't have any stake in the whole mess anyway. But any Harley up to the 50's is with it's inherent faults, just like a flathead... but try and fine one that no one wants.. impossible
