ram air system... for a motorcycle, why would one need a scoop?

From the knowledgeable comments today:

the scoop directs air to the rear and the center cylinder for more even cooling. The center cylinder gets much hotter on a triple than the outer ones. Its actually a very good idea

To direct air to the back sides of the cylinders for more even cooling!

Oops...I forgot to include "and center" ; i.e. the scoop directs air to the rear and the center cylinder for more even cooling. The center cylinder gets much hotter on a triple than the outer ones.
Its actually a very good idea that I believe Suzuki 'borrowed' from some Triumph Trident and BSA racebikes. Which of course Chevrolet had a functionally similar setup on the Corvair that directed forced air from the fan...

  3. Partly to cool the cylinder head, partly to look tough.
