Why cats are like cars... thank you Mike!

 

A stray kitten, who was immediately adopted, became an internet sensation after boarding a New York City subway train last week. (awwwww!)

Emmie -- an ode to the MTA -- is now a Harlem resident after a subway rider, who initially whisked the kitten to safety, decided to keep the two-month-old feline.

The kitten had quietly boarded the subway train and had been going from person to person in adorable kitten fashion, meowing as if looking for her mother or needing help from someone for food and safety. 

Yes, there were other commuters who offered to take her, but subway patron Betsaida Mercado swooped the tiny bundle up into her arms and headed back home.

Maybe the two were meant to be together; the next day Mercado took Emmie to the vet, and the kitten had not been microchipped, making her ready to be adopted.

Since then Mercado set up a fundraiser to help her with the veterinarian fees and closed the funding at $3,000, so grateful to everyone who helped, but stated all that money wasn’t needed. Instead she plans to donate most of the money to a few animal shelters in Manhattan.

Paws At The Ready - The cats of World War One had significant role 

Give thought to all the kitties
who served in World War One.
A battalion of the finest
who never fired a gun.

Whether hunting rodents out at sea,
or loyal friends to men,
these many cats had vital roles,
time and time again.

A common sight in trenches deep,
dispatching mice and rats,
the soldiers’ had a special bond
with many of these cats.

Five hundred thousand cats were sent
to serve in the Great War.
Some detected mustard gas,
whilst others were off shore.

Togo was the Dreadnought’s cat,
The Swan had their lad Ching.
Pincher was the Vinex’s mog,
it was luck they hoped they’d bring.

‘Martinpuich’ was aptly named,
by The 9th battalion chaps.
Pitouchi was the orphaned kit,
who’d survived on army scraps.

Spark Plug, Tabby and many more
were companions to the troops.
The feline unsung heroes,
those cats who became recruits.

We’ll never truly realise
just what these cats went through.
So spare a thought and give some thanks
for what they did for you!

What's the right thing to do when you see a kitten or puppy on a road, or a bridge? Does insurance cover the smashed up car of the person that panic stopped to rescue it? Or does car insurance not cover stopping in the lane, where there is no shoulder, and morons driving into it because they don't know how to use their brakes?

Somebody driving across the bridge spotted a flash of orange fur on Tuesday morning, and the animal lover got out to save the 10 week old kitten, according to the Coronado Police Department. 

While the fearless animal lover was attempting the rescue, however, their car was hit from behind by a red sedan, that was hit by another car

Dean was biking around Europe, when in Dec 2018 he came across a stray cat in Bosnia that someone had abandoned. He saved a wonderful cat! Then he began photographing and video recording their travels, and now they have a book
