It's not open to the public, so crowds and traffic jams in the area won't be a problem,... and electric carts aren't going to be noisy like racing 2 stroke motorcycles. And it gives the kids something to do, a place to do it, keeps them off the streets, and out of troublehttps://www.thedrive.com/news/neighbors-want-to-shut-down-a-maryland-mans-backyard-karting-track
The aerial view doesn't reveal everything, but there doesn't seem to be any neighbors nearby? Even if they were gas engines I don't think the noise would be detectable by the neighbors. The same people would probably complain about the kids using skateboards on the street.
ReplyDeleteDamned if you do, damned if you don't. It's so nice to have neighbors minding your business.
key point? NO ONE has used the track yet, the neighbors are throwing a fit over what HASN'T happened yet!

DeleteThere is a racing go kart track about a mile from my house, and I can clearly hear the engines when they are racing. It doesn't bother me, but I could understand people who live close to it being annoyed. If this guy was going to have electric carts, the only noise would be some tire squealing from the corners.
ReplyDeleteand excited noises from cart racers having a lot of fun! But yeah, people are easily annoyed at other people having fun. They put up with airports, military base operations of helos, jets, and cannons, freeways, kids squeals from schools, ships horns if they live by a bay.... but they lose their minds if kids are having fun skateboarding, racing cars, motorbikes, etc.
DeleteFun, can't be tolerated during business hours or weekends.
It's damn annoying.
and yeah, electric carts are going to be quieter than a nearby road's cars and trucks!
