there were 700,000 vehicles destroyed and they averaged 16 mpg, and the Cash for Clunkers program cost the US taxpayers 3 billion dollars. It had no net positive effect
I remember the local Chrysler/Plymouth/Dodge dealer took in a mint 1978 Chrysler New Yorker under that program. The thought that it was going to be crushed was heart breaking!
ReplyDeleteMade good used vehicles hard to find and the later affect is that poor folk are walking or taking the bus , all part of the grand plan .
