it's a shame all the great taxi driver stories from the 30s-70s are lost forever, as no one wrote them down. I think that until the tv show Taxi, no one realized what a treasure those taxi stories were
My wife and I took a taxi in downtown Chicago once and the guy was doing 80 mph, slowing down to 60 mph for red lights, and we weren't even in a hurry!
I was a college student on break in NYC, my first time in the city. Me and my buddies are in a cab zooming down the left lane of some wide multi-lane boulevard. A pedestrian dared to step off the curb about a half block ahead, so the driver hit the horn twice and floored it.
