Notice in the 1st photo, above, that there is no writing on the sidecar fender, not yet. No stickers on the sidecar pod. Not yet. Compare that to the way it looks in the below photo, somewhere in Colorado
I see stickers for Arizona and Oregon, and that is a long drive, but compared to the Holland to Hong Kong through India? He did a whole lot of miles on that scooter

Cool picture of Monarch Pass in Colorado before I was born. He is wearing shorts and short sleeves with snow drifts behind him. Highway 50 over Monarch seems to be the favorite route for people going coast to coast. Maine to Louisiana, thru Colorado and then Washington? On a scooter sidecar? You'd get run off the road today. Best post I've read today about a simpler time. Thanks Jesse.
ReplyDeleteWell darn it, you're very welcome. I wish I came across more stories (with photos) like this.
DeleteDid you see the one of the illustrator/artist who drove a go cart around the world?
I have not, until now. Just looked it up at Deans Garage. 23,300 miles in Go Kart. Another great adventure story.
DeleteDean's does such a great job on their post about Stan Mott, there simply is no point in trying to make a better article about Stan Mott's go kart adventure, I merely posted a placeholder and link to Dean's article so readers would learn of it and head over to read whay a marvelous guy Mott is and the amazing things he's done. Truly a unique bon vivant http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2017/12/the-only-recorded-instance-of-go-kart.html
