If you get into the old Chicago Tribune issues of 1917, between pages 74 to 78 are the car and truck ads ... and the Smith Form-A-Truck and Form-A-Tractor
The National Tractor Attachment Association was founded in Chicago in 1917. Manufacturers of conversion kits in the Association included Smith, Staude, Curtis Form-a-Tractor Co, Geneva Tractor Co, Pullford Company, 3-P Auto Tractor Company and the Unitractor Co.
Regular tractor manufacturers were not too impressed with the conversion companies, and there were examples of roads and fields being plowed up by tractors so that conversion companies could not demonstrate their equipment.
