Discovery Channel starts production on a tv series about the founding of the Harley Davidson company in 1903, to air Sept 2016

"...to transport the Discovery viewers back to the formative, hardscrabble years of Harley Davidson and the birth of motorcycle racing,” Ross told Variety.

Based on a true story, the series will tell how Milwaukee schoolyard pals William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson built – and rode – the machines that rule the road. Beginning at the turn of the 20th century, at the shores of Lake Michigan, this mini-series charts the birth of Harley-Davidson during a time of great social and technological change. Full of spectacular crashes, family feuds, inspired engineering and strokes of genius, this epic story of how two 19-year-old kids from Milwaukee started a company in their backyard that would go on to become an American legend.

the scope of the tv show will include the story of an early Harley-Davidson motorcycle club, and William Johnson, the 1st black Harley dealer who also was the first African-American to be licensed to compete in national motorcycle racing events

The show, which hails from Raw Television, will consist of three two-hour installments to air later this year on Discovery.

  1. Bet they're not going to bring up the subject of the company not actually selling motorcycles until 1905....

    1. we'll have to wait and see. I've posted photos of the Harley Davidson bicycles, they were well made, very cool to see, finally. I'm not going to be upset if they feature more about the bikes than the motorcycles. So far, this was all I could find on the internet about it... nothing about the details of the 6 hour show, just what I posted. It might be very documentary, or with a typical Hollywood overly dramatic glossing over of the whole story, with some damn love story used to bring in the women viewers, and at the expense of using the limited amount of time to get through all the important aspects of the facts of their history, company accomplishments, racing accomplishments, and competitors. Without competitors, no one would be as accomplished and great. We are only a bit stonger than our competition, without them, we'd have nothing to motivate us to greatness. And HD had a hell of a lot of other motorcycle companies to compete with to sell motorbikes
