Not sure if my last comment went through but the owner still has it but it has no transmission linked to it. Got a chance to post a few messages back and forth with him not too long ago.
I saw that detail in the article... but c'mon, that's something the owner WILL figure out somehow. No one gets to the point of making a radial engine fit in a truck without being able to get past the transmission issue
rotate the diff 90º so the u-joint is on the bottom, replace the u-joint with a pulley. mount another pulley on the engine shaft and run a very large belt from front to back.....what could go wrong?
I personally would have mounted it same as a plane. Transfer case down to your trans, and you're good to go. Can you imagine a couple of cylinders sticking out of the hood? Anyway, it's way cool. Have you seen the bikes with the same engine in them? I cannot even imagine trying to ride one.

DeleteHow is he going to keep it cool? Those engines are designed to run out in the wide open and they usually have a big fan blade in front of them.

DeleteHow about a hydraulic pump directly connected to the crankshaft, then two or four hydraulic motors at the wheels via a modulator or 'throttle'?
