Back in the early 40s, New Yorkers didn't have old Crown Victoria cop cars for taxi cabs, or even the lumbering Checker Marathons. They had 1942 DeSoto Skyway cabs... fold over headlights and a sunroof. Apparently old Wally P. built those with Manhattan cab service in mind. They look funny today, but they be too cool back '42.
