So, what will the new Jim Rockford be driving? Please let it be some car that is almost cool but just barely misses the mark and has to be a able to do the famous "Rockford Turn". I can't think of any current vehicle that checks those boxes and would fit a struggling ex-con private investigator. This started off as a rhetorical question but now I'm actually curious.
My response
I want you to know, you just made me stand and start applauding! No one else online that's reported on the reboot, has brought up that KEY FACTOR! What's he going to drive?!?! Will he do the Rockford Turn?
No way that character can afford a new Navigator, Cadillac, Corvette, Mustang etc... so, it's got to be a used car, and not the flash kind!
Dang it, now I'm all in on wanting to know what the hell the car will be!
A better question is who is going to watch the "new" Rockford show? I can tell you that this old man's family won't be watching. Got to watching Columbo last night. As Rodney Dangerfield would say, It's Tough Out There!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch anything with commercials, so I won't see it until it's went to streaming. If it's instantly on Peacock, Paramount, Hulu or something like that, then I'll see it, but I won't pay for cable, to see 20 minutes of stupid commercials every hour of tv watching. They should pay for the cable, if they want me to watch commercials.
DeleteFor sure........Pontiac won't be providing the vehicle this time around like before.
ReplyDeleteI've put more thought into this than reasonable and made up a backstory for the car:
ReplyDelete5th Gen (2010-2015) Camaro. Is an impounded car bought at a Police auction or a sketchy friend loans it to him.
has a failing Earl Sheib paint job, gold of course.
runs & drives fine except the traction control doesn't work = J-TURNS!
car is a low-key badass but has "personality"; a door that you have to fiddle with to get it to open, a piece of trim that doesn't want to stay attached, has an unidentifiable/unfindable smell.
He acts like he hates the car but occasionally praises it in a rare show of pride & emotion. (we know he loves that car but would never admit it)
