It's one of the intriguing joys of life, that as time goes by, I learn more about a specific topic, and the eventual outcome... like the tv series Space Patrol tv series, that I posted about, I just learned they took it around the country on a publicity tour, prior to giving it away

Ten-year-old Ricky Walker won the first prize in the Space Patrol TV show's Name the Planet Contest sponsored by Ralston Purina.

The grand prize was a 40-foot long rocket clubhouse on a trailer, a replica of Commander Buzz Corry’s battlecruiser, the Terra IV, and a truck to pull it. Ricky's winning name for Planet X was "Cesaria," and the Ralston Rocket clubhouse was delivered to Ricky on 12 January 1954 in the town square of his home town, Washington, Illinois.

Schwinn World Traveler bicycle were the second prizes.

Eventually the novelty wore off and Ricky’s parents sold the rocket playhouse to a traveling carnival for the sum of $1000.

In 1985 it was discovered on the property of a small construction company in Gent, New York.

Then they destroyed it and sold the metal as scrap

1,000 mile 1997 Probe was a contest prize, but not used by the winner... and instead of enjoying it, they stored it, and now it's for sale

This very special 1997 Ford Probe was actually given away as the top prize in a Ford-sponsored competition that took place that same year, but as it turned out, the lucky winner didn’t really have any use for it, apparently. Thus, they stored it away and rarely drove it over the ensuing years, leaving it in immaculate condition to this day.

Current price is about 15,000 pounds, but, since this won't sell for that much, as, that's what a NEW car would cost, and this has 27 year old plastic, rubber hoses and lines, etc etc. And there are no new replacement parts, and it won't have a new car warranty.

If there is a great reason to buy a mediocre Ford, and pay the same as a new Civic, I'd like to hear it

about 20 years ago I bought one cheap to use as a commuter, I think I paid 2k for it... if that damn car had a more powerful engine it would have been a fantastic sports car. By the way, the Ford Probe, aside from not having a good name, was a remade Mazda 323 I heard.

the winner of the Lowe's Richard Petty Superbird give away was discovered

John Meniefield won the Superbird from Lowe's in 1970.

Melvin Proffit (Lowe's) took the company plane to Virginia to pick up John & his wife, took them to Petty Enterprises to pick up the Superbird, and they drove it home.

The car has white interior, automatic on the column.

It was his daily driver until passing away in 2000. Four or five years later, the car was sold to a family friend.

Arkansas man suing country club after they refuse to give him the truck they promised as a hole-in-one prize

Austin Clagett filed a lawsuit against Morrilton Country Club, because when he played in the club’s “Tournament of the Century” on Oct 8, the Country Club promoted a 2022 Ford F-150 4x4 Supercrew as a prize for the first person to hit a hole-in-one of the course’s 10th hole. That truck had a sticker of prize of $53,595

Clagett went out and aced the 10th hole. According to reports, it was a good, clean ace. It didn’t happen on a provisional. It didn’t happen out of turn. A letter-of-the-law "one." When Clagett went to claim his new ride after round, however, Morrilton Country Club wouldn’t turn over the keys.

I learned that these promotions are only done when dealerships buy insurance to cover the loss if someone wins.

This time, this dealership didn't get insurance!

Jay Hodge Ford says they were unable to secure the necessary insurance for the vehicle in time because they believed the vehicle was for display purposes only. Without their knowledge, Morrilton Country Club promoted the pickup as a hole-in-one prize, perhaps thinking no one would actually make a hole-in-one, a decision which has now backfired spectacularly.
