The upside of this, is he can afford the best medical care ANY where in the world, and prostate cancer can be surgically removed.

  1. I am a survivor. 20yrs. this September. Apart from surgery, mostly robotic these days, there are other options. You need to be guided by the urologist and oncologist and ALWAYS get a second opinion! Cannot stress that enough.I settled on conforming high dose radiation for part and then the relatively new high dose brachytherapy which entails 15 S/S tubes inserted in the perenium and then three robotically controlled input sessions of a gamma? ray pill. Gives a very accurate and lethal dose right where it's needed. Another option is low dose brachy via permanent insertion of radio active seeds around the gland. Mate of mine went down this road but he ended up having to have ongoing alternative treatment. ie. hormones. All i can do is recommend that every bloke over the age of 40 gets an annual PSA check, especially if you have family history.Mind you,my PSA was normal at 3.5 for a 59 yr. old;but agreeing to my GP's advice I did allow the physical exam which he made comment of "I'm not happy with what I feel there".(can't say I was thrilled with the experience either. LOL) But,that led to the biopsy and you know the rest. Bit of a rant, but if this helps just one bloke survive...job done.
