New York State troopers, dressed as construction workers, issued 94 tickets during an 8-hour enforcement operation in a 55 mph work zone along the New York State Thruway in Herkimer County on Friday.






























Speeding accounted for 73% of the citations, with troopers issuing 69 tickets for exceeding the posted limit. The fastest driver was clocked at 79 mph in a 55 mph work zone.

The enforcement effort, called Operation Hard Hat, involved troopers posing as workers within an active construction zone along Interstate 90. The undercover troopers identified violations and radioed uniformed officers in the area to conduct traffic stops.
