there's an easier way to start an old motorcycle than an electric starter... a shotgun shell port, same as airplane engines

  3. While in Vietnam I saw the B-57s starting their jet engines using shotgun shells. Years later when i lived in Fort Worth we always went to the annual Air Force air show at Carswell Air Force SAC Base. They had some B-52s inside a separate fenced area that had armed guards 24-7 with signs stating that you would be shot if you crossed the painter boundary lines. They would sometime hit the scramble horns to see how fast the crews could get those bombers running and on the runway. They started the jet engines it's a 10 inch round shell of black powder that weight 8 pounds. This was known as The Coffman starter. This method of starting two of engines with the black powder shells
to be rolling in about 10 minutes when starting the normal way versus one hour There is a lot more information on this that you can google.
    Have Fun!
