because there are a crazy number of mega wealthy people in the world, there is a comapny making 1/4 scale models of Ferraris, and selling them for 50k. Apiece. No engine.
Yes, they are hand made, using bucks, exactly like the full size versions.
Just talked to a friend of mine this morning about the cost of custom aluminum sports car bodies. Cobra and like bodies are $100,000.00 each and higher. Not only that, there is a waiting list to get one. Big Boys with their expensive table toys will buy those hand formed table bodies in a heartbeat. I bought a number of the die cast airplanes and top fuel dragsters from Eastwood and other sources back some years ago and glad I did as I don't think anyone is still producing them. Another friend of mine some years ago had several real hot rod cars but realized he couldn't afford to buy all the ones he wanted so he started buying Hot Wheels when they were still pretty detailed and correct. Still hope to build one last real roadster to run the mountain highways. Guess we'll just have to wait and see!
