a Ukrainian operator of a first-person-view drone came across—and destroyed—an 85-millimeter D-44, which entered Soviet Union military use in 1946

the presence of the aged field gun on the Russian side is a reminder that Russia is losing a lot of artillery, and is scrambling to make good those losses.

In the nearly four months since Ukrainian forces launched their long-anticipated counteroffensive along several axes in southern and eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainians have knocked out no fewer than 80 Russian howitzers and rocket-launchers. The Russians meanwhile have knocked out just 24 Ukrainian howitzers and launchers.

As the wider war grinds toward its third year, the Russians have lost more than a thousand howitzers and launchers; the Ukrainians have lost fewer than 500.

Sadly, several countries are no longer helping Ukraine, Poland got its feelings hurt over grain sales and Belgium has announced it will not be delivering its surplus F-16s to the Ukrainian military
