Ronald Searle spent time during WW II in an Japanese POW camp. Here are some drawings by him from that period.

  1. If I am first to comment;I feel priveleged. Love that "big belliied babe" in pic 1. The unforgettable B24! What really moves me,is the image of the POW's getting the news....So many Aussies involved in that, along with the Brits and others. TOTAL ineptitude by the armchair Generals!
And we won't mention Churchill abandoning Australia after that. It took our Govt. to recall troops from the middle east to defend our homeland. Do Not Get me started. Apologies Jesse. Getting older and grumpy. Grumpier! Thanks for a great post;to keep reminding others of the sacrifices that have given them the life of ease that most of them do not seem to appreciate. Rant over.
