This team is set up in a very unique way, to get equal pay from the league, a collective bargaining agreement, free agency, and other normal / typical sports rules put in place in women's soccer
The team is an expansion team, and was founded by some big thinkers who are working to push the better ideas to the norm, and not the ideal. Ideas like women having a place on the world stage of sports, women getting a team free of sexual assault from coaches and staff (Yates Report), better coverage from sports broadcasters and news outlets.
Who's behind this teams success? Serena Williams, her husband, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Garner, and other entertainment and sports celebs. Mia Hamm, Gabrielle Union, Eva Longoria, Billy Jean King, and Lilly Singh (Bad Guys, Muppets Mayhem ((I've been posting about them recently)))
Why is it important? Because we must be civilized, we must get past sexist and racist bullshit of others, protect those who need it, help those we can, and support those in the fight. Do the right thing, plan ahead for the success of your sisters, daughters, cousins, and grandkids.

I didn't give a damn about modern F1 until watching the Netflix show, it's amazing to get interested in 2 sports, if only on streaming tv, that I didn't care at all about until the tv shows.
