The program specifically focuses on trades like HVAC, plumbing, electrical work and construction, and is being offered in various locations across the U.S., often in collaboration with local trade schools, unions or employers, with the first being in Jacksonville, North Carolina.
The program is also an approved Department of Defense SkillBridge opportunity, meaning it allows eligible transitioning service members to participate during their final 180 days of service, with command approval.
Young veterans have faced an unprecedented hardship, compared to their civilian peers, in attaining a job. In June 2025, the veteran unemployment rate was 3.7%, which is up from 2.9% the prior year, according to the Labor Department. However, the unemployment rate for military spouses is at about 21%.

Why 21% for military spouses? Because Dependapotmi are notorious for marrying young military guys, and are looking for the military benefits, a husband who is rarely home, likely to have a huge life insurance policy in case of war zone fatalities, and are not goal oriented to their own career, but are notorious about using tv, a couch, and bon bons to waste the day away when not making life for enlisted on base, more miserable than it would be without them around. Trust me, I was in the Navy for a decade, and Newton's wife called the boat every damn day, Mose's wife busted a window in the bases housing they lived in, stuck a rifle out it, and shot at cops demanding that he be airlifted off the sub, as we were at sea off the coast of Maui, and then there are the multitudes of dear John letters, one of which went to my nephew, just landing after returning from Syria while taking rifle rounds mid flight, telling him that while he was in the gulf, his wife found a new stud in college.
