I used to tune into Paul Harvey's radio show all the time, from the 80s to the mid 00s, and his "rest of the story" was something I looked forward to every day. I don't recall this one, about a car lover! Skip the first 2 minutes, it last 4 minutes
Paul's dad was a policeman who was killed by robbers in 1921, when Paul was 3 years old.
Hollywood movie star and former US Senator Fred Thompson substituted for Harvey regularly from 2006 to 2007.
According to the AOPA Pilot contributing editor Barry Schiff, Harvey coined the term skyjack.
How did I guess 'Tucker' with'in 45 seconds? Truly a shameful note in our history. Paul Harvey, I was also a big fan and looked forward to his broadcasts at 12:25 pm every day in my area capping off the lunch break at work.
Thank you again Jesse for making my day ( 12:06 AM) I knew the Tucker story long before the movie filled in much more information, indeed brought it to life. I worked for a used car lot owner in the 70's that still had the Tucker radio that was sent to him to install in the car when it arrived. he also believed in the car and that radio was his prized possessions. That or his 1930 Packard rumble seat roadster.
I used to listen to the Paul Harvey stories nearly every day on the radio.
the first 200 or so episodes of Mike Rowes "The way I heard It" podcast were a revival or continuation of Paul Harveys stories. they are definitely worth a listen Rowe advertised them as the being for people " with a curious mind and a short attention span"
after that the pods were just interviews with people
Totally! I listened to them to, lots of them but not all of them, and now I look through the podcasts for interesting stories/people and found and posted a couple! (One guy pulling cars out of a river, he runs a business doing that, has two barges, one has an excavator on it) And I've posted a bunch on Mike, Dirty Jobs, and Pay It Back ( I think was the other show, on You Tube, during Covid quarantine) https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search?q=mike+rowe

ReplyDeleteyou are sure welcome! Whoa, he had the Tucker radio! That's pretty damn cool as car things go! Not that a 30 Packard is to be overlooked
