Just for your information. I can but a '29 Dodge Sedan without facing down the barrel of a gun. Post WWII, there might have been these kinds of issues for obtaining a chit from the lottery to buy a new car. I have no firm data, but there were some issues until the 1950 models became available, and adequate production.
