nice to see that even though we bombed Iran, gas didn't get more expensive!

This is the cheapest gas station in San Diego from what I can see

By the way, I looked back at the costs of 2022... and coicidentally, the previous political party was in charge, and inflation was skyrocketing the costs of everything, and here's the price of gas

  1. Fun fact: In Iran a gallon of gas costs 0.17 dollar (according to two Danes who last months rode prewar Nimbuses through there, on their way to New Zealand.)

    1. no doubt the supply is high, and the demand is low as there is no where to go in Iran for touristy jaunts, and people there are likely walking to work, or using scooters, etc. Unlike more moderate climate countries that aren't all rock and sand, where there are vacations to take, places to be enjoyed, etc. We drive everywhere in the US, don't use trains much, and every weekend we gad about to do stuff somewhere else. I imagine that doesn't happen in Iran. My point, is that the people in Iran probably use a LOT less gas per capita than most European countries. After all, I doubt they farm in Iran, so, they don't use tractors much. They probably don't have the same amount of Amazon deliveries etc. I imagine it's a very very different life in Iran due to the desert, the religion, and the lack of women driving.
So, I imagine the govt runs everything, like Venezuela was said to do, (I don't have to waste time fact checking do I?) and keeps the refineries on the ball, no price gouging, and the people don't use much gas for recreation. And bingo, cheap as dirt gas. Maybe cheaper. I wonder what the cost of a cubic meter of good farming top soil costs in Iran, vs a cubic meter of 89 Octane. I bet the dirt costs more

    2. Wikipedia: One third of Iran is suitable for agriculture, and food security is 96%. So it could be worse - but could be better too.

Other sources state that half of Iranian household have a car, an increase of 70% the last 15 years, sanctions be damned.

    3. For California, yes. Under the top two photos, I wrote "This is the cheapest gas station in San Diego from what I can see" I didn't say it's the cheapest on the planet, on the continent, in the country, or in the state... so, how about backing up a bit, see what I wrote, why, and gave photos to show.
You have a valid point, it's not cheap compared to what it costs on the East coast, which is closer to the source, and has more refineries.
But, you can't drive there on a half tank, and score cheap gas, get back to San Diego and put it to good use.
So, the only factor worth considering about gas cost, is, where is the cheapest in a 20 minute drive, past that, you're wasting gas to pay less at the pump, but blowing that cost savings by using a couple dollars worth to get there. Cancels out the savings.
Anyway, there's problems, and advantages, to where anyone lives. Less expensive cost of living but tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, and mosquitoes - is what Californians call the sunshine tax.
It's 60-80 for 9 months a year in San Diego... and the wind comes off the pacific at a steady 5 to 10 knots.
But gas is twice the cost of everywhere East of Denver. Or whatever.
And homes are near the million dollar range on average. Car insurance is probably twice what it is between Reno and Pittsburgh.
And I just added a couple photos from local gas stations from 2022... and you can compare those, and see just what a difference a political party makes.
By the way, there are a handful of refineries in the whole state of California, and I think I heard that the one in El Segundo, near the LA Airport, just shut down to piss off the governor. Yes. For real

    4. dont blame them, the governor has sued oil companies for contributing to climate change.
when he did that it would have been hilarious if the oil companies just responded by stopping the sale of gasoline and diesel in california . problem solved.

  3. All gasoline sold in the US since about 1984+- has been unleaded. Can we simply refer to it as Regular now? It has been long enough that many younger drivers do not know there was lead in gas.

    1. most places do simply call it regular... https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/search/label/Gas to see the many gas pumps and gas stations I've photographed in the past two decades. No others call it unleaded. Huh!
