The open hangar doors allowed the foam to spill onto the ramp area. The incident on July 4th, 2025, affected an Airbus A320 and A321 plane inside the hangar.
There's no reason to think this had anything to do with the airline preventing the maintenance crew from getting the holiday off

Some years back at (as I recall) Coast Guard Air Station Houston a news crew was in the hanger filming something. The way I remember reading it was the camera lights put out a specific wavelength that the fire suppression system took as signs of a fire on the hanger deck and started dumping the foam... A fun day for all I'm sure!
ReplyDeletethank you Rob! OMG, the unforeseen incompatibility of systems previously unknown... and the surprise moment when it's discovered that things do not work well together, in a disastrous way.
DeleteWow... I never would have guessed, that the lighting from a news crew, would trigger a camera type fire safety system... unreal!
THanks!
