ever heard of the Horsepower Harvest? An ECTA land speed racing event where cars run up to 260mph, and bikes to 240ish, and it's on a runway for 1/2 mile timing, 1 mile, and 2km, whatever the hell a 2km is

there aren't a lot of requirements, just a standard safety check of the vehicle, plus helmet, firesuit, gloves and boots.
