wow, bought in September of '48 and was given as a graduation gift. He drove it until 1958 and then the car was just parked in a garage until 2012 and only taken out on occasion. Stored virtually untouched for 54 years.

Something you might not be aware of, is that with the advent of big inexpensive cars, door to door, and city to city salesman were in big demand, and instead of using trucks, the car makers were building car with no back seats and huge trunks for lots of storage, called a Business Coupe, and though this is an aftermarket cabinetry far nicer than any salesman was going to pay for, it's the eye candy that pulls people into the convention booth so the sales guy can sell anything else his company makes

Business coupes were 2 door cars with HUGE trunks so traveling salesmen could fit product samples, like miniature pianos, sets of dishes, carpet samples etc... but this is the first V12 powered business coupe I ever found. 1937 Lincoln Zephyr

new info about 1937 Chevrolet dealerships installing truck beds in business coupes... I thought that was a thing people had to make for themselves

I've posted about this gas rationing ingenuity before, that a truck was issued more gas rations, and a car less, so some people converted their cars into trucks by just adding a pickup bed where the rumble seat or trunk had been... this is the first I've read about it being done by a dealership... But the owner of this 1937 Chevy business coupe is the 2nd owner and bought this car 40 years ago, so I'll just work with that.
