from prototype helicopter to peach pitting machine... the Filper company went for the sky, and wound up in the pits. (Yes, I had to do that)

Filper Corporation was an agricultural grower and food processing company located in the California central valley, it acquired Copperfield Corporation, a small helicopter technology company in 1965

During the test flight of the Beta 400 prototype in November 1967 something went wrong, and it resulted in the death of the test pilot and the project was scrapped, and the company ceased operations in April 1968.

  1. Stopping production was probably a very wise decision. I see a number of design issues. Just looking at it would sure make me to refuse a pass in it. Definitely a future killer of men!

  2. As a Sunbeam owner I had to note the Sunbeam Alpine in the background of the black and white photo.
