update to the illegal/unconstitutional police raid on the Marion County Record newspaper, that resulted in the death of the 98 year old matron/owner

The Aug. 11, 2023 raid, when police stormed the newsroom, under the false pretense that a reporter had committed identity theft by looking up a driving record in a public online database, spawned one state and five federal lawsuits, as well as a criminal charge against Gideon Cody, the former police chief who led the raid. 

The legal action continues to unfold as attorneys battle in federal court and a hearing in Cody’s case is scheduled for this fall.
