there must be 50 ponds of bondo on this Mustang... there is so much, they made a bigger car by adding an inch or two of bondo to give it a smooth layer

  1. I bought a 66 Thunderbird at an auction, and it was like that, looked ok, till I started sanding it to paint it, and discovered the bondo was over an inch thick.
    no idea why either, nothing looked bent. wasnt a big deal since I only paid $800 for the car and it ran great, I sold the engine and trans for $1800

  2. Must have been an eye opener to do a magnet test on this. I take it this was some sort of 'custom' job, because I can't imagine this amount of bondo work was easier than just fixing the body rot the right way.

    the metal doesn't look that bad (at least not everywhere), and the lines seem to follow original design, so what was the point?
