I love well built things, interior decorating done right, wood panel accent trim, crown molding, etc etc so this diner interior is just the sort of place I'd like to be! Skee's Diner, Torrington, Connecticut.

But the story is quite unique:

Skee's Diner was built by the famous Jerry O'Mahony Dining Car Company around 1930. It is the oldest diner in the state of Connecticut, and perhaps the best preserved interior of a diner thats almost 100 years old in the country!

The Torrington Historic Preservation Trust is interested in offering the right "entrepreneurial spirited" person an opportunity to build, own and operate their own classic American Diner/Restaurant in downtown Torrington, CT.

  1. I grew up (partly at least) in nearby Cornwall, CT. and actually have eaten at Skee's! Though I don't recall having eaten there more than once, because Torrington had some better places for fast food. But it was a familiar sight for years. Right across the street (think sort of over your left shoulder from the picture) was a pretty decent little photo shop. Long gone, of course, like the Minoltas they sold!
