A bill recently introduced in Ohio by a local legislator would protect racetracks from nuisance complaints relating to racing to create a "clear legal framework for nuisance claims involving racing facilities and racetracks" in Ohio,

Specifically, it would create a "complete legal defense" for racing facilities against certain nuisance claims and would apply to a property owner who acquired or developed property after the racing facility was constructed, the release states.

“Each ‘Right to Race’ bill aims to give long-established race tracks more stability and predictability, enabling them to continue hosting events, supporting local jobs and serving the motorsports community,” Deeter said. “Together, these proposals reflect a growing, pro-motorsports approach in statehouses to protect the places where grassroots racing happens and where the next generation of racers and builders get their start.”

Thank you Marc!

  1. Jesse,
PRI (Performance Racing Industry) has been working in the state and federal legislatures to have "right to race" statutes passed. Get details of PRI's efforts at their website (pri.com) and while you are there, become a PRI member for $40 annually. It is money well spent.

    1. I know they have, and I've posted about it in the past. No, I won't be doing more research on their site, that would be homework, and this ain't school, and it's not my job. I do this for fun, to enjoy myself, and pass along stuff I think people who look at my blog will want to know.
As for paying them to be a member? No. if they want me to be a member they can ask me to be one. Why the hell should I pay to join anything? Unless there's some benefit I get in exchange for money, like a university degree that results in my being able to get a career type job in a field that will not allow me access without a university diploma, I don't see a need for anyone else to get some of my money.
They can have my participation, they can get me to volunteer, if I feel their work is worthy of my effort and labor, and they can have my endorsement if they think I'm good for that. But if they want my money, they can work for me. And I don't give away money.
I earn a press pass so I can go to conventions, instead of paying to go.
That's my earning my way in. Any one can hand over money. I prefer to earn my access.
If there are two ways into doing something, and one is paying for it, and the other is earning it? I will earn it.
Like musclecars. Any rich nub can pay for a tricked out or perfectly restored musclecar, or hot rod, or sports car. I made mine from working my way up from a 600 dollar Barracuda with a 318, until I could sell my 2100 Bee for 5000 and then afford to buy my R/T that I've sunk parts, labor, and time into and made a proper track car out of it (or it soon will be when I can afford more stuff for it).
I prefer to work for something, not pay for it.
If I could build a house, or buy one, I'd build it. '
If I could be a pilot, or pay to fly a plane, I'd earn a pilots license.
If a trip to the moon could be earned by being crew on the rocket/space ship/shuttle, or paid for by some billionaire space tourist? I'd be crew.
I'd rather be the navigator on the titanic than a rich passenger. I'd rather be the engineer on the 4014 Big Boy than a paying rider in some passenger car.
The artist, rather than the customer.
If PRI membership costs? Then why haven't I seen or heard from any members? Ever, in my life. I've known NRA, NHRA, AAA, etc etc members. But never a PRI member.
I'd love to see the convention though. Must be like SEMA, but cooler parts.
