if you remember the famous speedtrap town of Fruithurst Ala in the 70s? Well, Brookside, Alabama took that as a guide on how to operate a speedtrap

In tiny Brookside, police mobilized in recent years in order to extract fines and fees from residents and passersby. 

In 2020 49 percent of town revenue came from fines and forfeitures. Since then, the Brookside police chief and his troubled second-in-command resigned, as did several other officers. The town is being investigated by multiple state agencies
