BF Goodrich had a great advertising campaign in the early 90s that was pure eye magnet material, color matched backgrounds to the car color, and a punchline.

  1. The blue Vette poster influenced my 68 Vette purchase in the 90's.

    1. That's cool! Did it turn out to be a great car that resulted in lots of fun drives? How long did you keep it for, and seriously, did women ever give a damn about the car? Or only care if you'd let them drive it?

  2. LOL....There was a point where, one spring afternoon I had the Vette, my Texas bought 68 Cougar XR7 and my 60 Chevy Sedan Delivery all in the driveway when my then 1st wife came home from work and said "I see your other girlfriends are home" with a snotty look on her face (I was then probably 28 or 29)....We then bought a house, built a garage, then divorced...I dismantled the Vette literally, her lawyer came after the car in conversation and that's when I asked her if she's going to help her client reassemble it? Long/short..I kept the Vette & the house, as well as my GreyHound. (dog) Reassembled the Vette, parking brake failure allowed it to roll into the woods one morning....I had Great American antique insurance on it, they covered all the repairs 'plus' and a year later I got it back in Porsche Red #2 in Base & clearcoat perfection, had the side pipes installed while it was there, and that blue picture would represent it well, very well if it was red, basically identical. (don't know how I would post photo's here) Wife #2, unimpressed with Vette (did I care?) so to answer your question, no...they don't really give a damn in most cases. Had some great drives, scared the pants off a few friends, warmest car I ever owned, lots of heat transfer....in total I owned it about 6 years, honestly with the fresh paint you get scared to drive them anywhere anymore....bought a restored 71 Bronco with the money....I'd probably never buy another one of those either. All good fun.

    1. Wow... that is the coolest divorce story I've heard in forever... guys almost always lose every damn thing. Seems divorce judges are convinced women are incapable of earning a living, or marrying another guy with money, cars, and houses. Ironic, ain't it? I don't hate women, or even have an anger issue about their lot in life... but I can easily see the advantages of having a vagina and breasts. The shortcomings too.
Anyway, dissassembling it! Brilliant! Can be done in about 24 hours or less... but takes weeks to reassemble! That's the genius part of what you did - take a simple moment, and make a complicated result no one in their right mind will touch without burning through stacks of hundred dollar bills. Just the price of a engine gasket kit alone!

Send me a link if you've posted photos of it online!

Damn! parking brake fail! SHIT! That means it was a stick shift? Wow, that had to be a blast!

I had a part time job helping to restore 1969 Corvettes, and though I got to move it around in the drive way, I never got to drive one on the streets... to this day, I've never driven a Corvette on the streets. Just parking lots, very slowly

damn, a classic Cougar (vs everything made after 1972 through til 2010 or so) a Corvette, and a van. You were living the life!

And married twice. You really have had a lucky life! I've never been married, and have only had classic cars one at a time. I've had my 69 R/T Coronet since 2002, and it simply lives in the garage waiting for me to be able to afford an engine rebuild. It drives, but goes through oil like mad and gas like you're flushing a toilet.

Standing on the gas, pedal to the floor, and you can watch the gas gauge move. I was at the 1/8th mile drag strip in 2003, and made 4 passes. Went through a 1/2 tank. 10 gallons. 1/2 mile dragged, 1/2 mile on the return lane. So, 1 mile, 10 gallons. You'd think the damn thing was pumping gas out the exhaust pipes!

    2. Women....Love them to death, but God's little joke on man kind....My current wife is a handful, hates everything I drag home, until it's done then she calls it 'her's'.
My 60 Chevy sedan delivery was actually a 2 door, panel station wagon, everything from the b pillar back was steel panel, no widows except in the rear hatch, old skool delivery wagon. Bagged & Tagged everything on that Vette when I disassembled so reassembly wasn't bad, bad part was wanting to replace everything in the bags with new parts ($$$$$$).....I learned to clean up & restore parts real quick. ;) They are fun on the street, had the Munci 4 speed and a non numbers matching 327 in it....e-brake is a 5 inch internal drum brake, not very effective when worn. I've seen your 69, I've grown to like them now a days. A friend had one in high school back in 1980...back then not so much, my taste has changed since then. Sounds like your dumping fuel, I'm sure over time you'll go through it and give it a rebuild.

Went on ebay to possibly purchase that poster again, but I'm not shelling out $55 plus for it...some as high as $200.00...No way, I have projects & that's parts money!! Too bad...No photo's on line unless you have a fb account, I could forward a couple there.

    3. I do indeed have a facebook account, a couple. One for the blog, one for WW2 nose art, one for myself. https://www.facebook.com/jesse.bowers.16
