It can be repaired... it's certainly not totalled, but the owners might be heartbroke, and sell it instead of putting up with body shop bullshit that lasts a year for a 2 week job

I got to talk to her for a minute in traffic as we sat side by side, a 289 4 barrel, 65 Fairlane 500. Her first car!

Ever heard of the concept car, the 1969 Fairlane Machette? A prototype

A modified version of the 1968 Fairlane Torino GT Fastback, the show car was created at the Ford Design Center in Dearborn, Mich. 

It has a special two-tone "pearlescent" white and silver finish. 

The unusual grille features twin horizontal black air scoops. Headlamps are concealed behind electrically operated doors. 

Roof pillars have been widened to provide additional privacy for rear seat passengers. 

Machete's taillights are flush with the lower portion of the deck panel, and concealed by white coated lenses. With light off, the taillamps are hidden, blending smoothly into the white rear panel.

It was based on the Torino, not the Fairlane, and actually was a '68 that had debuted as early as December 1967.

I had no idea that Ford made a ’63 Hi-Po Fairlane. A hi po 289 the 4 door... unusual combo, but, I guess you could order about any combo of trim lines and engines. If you'd buy it, they'd sell it. But only 2 were made. Only this one survived

The Challenger 221-cid and 260-cid V-8s returned as options for 1963, the only news was the debut of the High Performance 289-4V engine (aka Hi-Po 289). 

This engine was based up on the small-block V-8s that had debuted in the Fairlane line in 1962, but besides being punched out to a larger displacement, it also had cast-iron headers, solid lifters, a nodular iron crankshaft, high-performance connecting rods, a wider harmonic dampener, a dual-point ignition system, Autolite 4100 series four-barrel carburetor, a hot camshaft and screw-in rocker-arm studs, among other performance goodies. These tricks brought the Hi-Po 289-cid V-8’s performance potential to 271 hp

only one other four-door sedan with this engine had been produced in 1963, but it had been scrapped before it could be saved — likely for its valuable engine and drivetrain. 

This leaves this Hi-Po 289 Fairlane 500 as the sole surviving K-code four-door.

This Fairlane 500 stands out to me by being stock looking, at SEMA, land of the blank check builds and upgrades

the movie Dazed and Confused, good movie, even better than I remembered it. It takes place in 1976, and the cars are very cool

Anyone else get a kick out of the classic 80s movies, and the cool vehicles in those? I do, and am rewatching some, like tonights flick Lost Boys (hell of a great soundtrack too, maybe, the best)
