I do this routinely on my Hyundai (the kind people like to steal) whenever parked for long periods such as air travel. But no little loop. This one has a blank space right above the fuse position for the engine computer, so I just take the fuse out and put it in the hole above. Thus I never lose it, and it never is obvious. It's a bit tricky to pull out by hand, but I make sure there's a multi-too or needlenose pliers handy.
I thought of hiding a switch for this somewhere, but for all its other faults, the Hyundai has very neat wiring an little room to insert anything. So I stick with the fuse pulling.
I did this with the fuel injector relay on my old Jeep, and recommended it to my daughter when I gave it to her. She lived in Boston, and sure enough, one night thieves tried to steal it. They mangled the steering column, but they did not get the car!
A multitool is a handy darn tool... I keep one in the trunk, and need it at least once a year for the pliers or the knife, I've never needed it for anything else
For once, I actually caught this trick. The truckers hauling cars all do it with the cars on the trailer. Picked it up from them. 8-)
