A radial engine developed for light aviation, but is a bolt-in for VW vehicles because it’s based on standard air cooled VW Beetle engine architecture, it puts out a 100 hp more though! (thank you Berend!)

Super cool sounding and looking @120 HP (according to their website) makes it pretty unique.....but @ $25,000 US for the basic bottom line offering seems pretty pricey. Scat doesn't show HP ratings for their engines on their site, but after a little research I found you can get one of their zero hour long blocks engines minus carbs, exhaust and distributor for around $5,200 achieving around 170 HP.

Not having a VW car, or dune buggy, I have no clue what the stuff costs... and didn't take time to dive into the research to find out. 5 times as much for the radial, as for a SCAT vw engine? Obviously, that's nuts. But the cost of the research and development are probably most of that and their effort to recoup that cost and make a profitable business.... but the fundamentals of a VW motor are simply cheap, and 60 years of evolution have gotten SCAT to where they are without charging 25 k per engine I suppose... Thanks!
Very interesting. They say it's liquid cooled but I guess the fins help too. Dry sump. A guy's building a motorcycle around one of these.
