In Australia, South of Gladstone, in Sept 2014 a road train carrying 52 tons of ammonium nitrate crashed near the Angellala creek, set off a massive explosion, destroyed 2 bridges, and registered 2.1 on the Richter scale
an electric oak clock from the 1950s that was a fixture of the Pennsylvania Railroad’s Union Station in Pittsburgh, was retired in the 70s, and finally restored in 2022
They worked with the Electric Time Company of Medfield, Massachusetts, the original maker of the clock, to source missing parts
The Neue Elbbrücke, or New Bridge over the Elbe, is one of the most distinctive bridges in Germany.
The first road bridge over the Norderelbe was built between 1884 and 1887 and was designed with distinctive lenticular girders according to the Lohse system. Granite was chosen as the building material for the pillars. The building received two striking neo-Gothic portals, designed by the architects Wilhelm Hauers and August Pieper. Built in brick and sandstone between 1886 and 1888, the work was on a par with the most famous gateway portals of the Middle Ages, and the overall character was a reference to the architecture of Hanseatic cities.
Despite the heavy bombing of Hamburg during World War II, the structure retained its form and was not destroyed, unlike most of the city’s buildings. Between 1957 and 1960, the bridge underwent a comprehensive modernization. At that time, the original west bridge and neo-Gothic portals were demolished

A controversial cycling infrastructure project, the Linthorpe Road cycle lane, constructed in 2022 for £1.7million, will be dismantled at an additional expense of £2.17million, marking the end of a scheme that has cost taxpayers and resulted in numerous injuries.
25 injury claims were submitted between the cycle lane's completion in 2022 and July 2025, 15 injury claims have been settled by Middlesbrough Council through their insurers, while 6 additional cases are pending resolution.
The black-and-white rubber dividers separating the cycle lane have proved hazardous for both pedestrians and cyclists, causing numerous trips and falls.
The installation attracted fierce condemnation at a full council meeting in October 2023, where it was labelled "disastrous", while local businesses have reported declining trade, attributing losses to reduced parking availability and limited drop-off points.
The owner of Madame Rouge vintage pub and tearooms described the project as "an absolute disaster", as other merchants echoed similar sentiments about the negative impact on their establishments.
Mayor Ben Houchen offered particularly scathing criticism during a BBC Radio Tees Valley interview on Wednesday, claiming the cycle lane was predominantly utilized by children "causing problems" and "drug dealers who exploited it as a bike run to be able to get through traffic"
Commenting on the controversial road measures, the Association of British Drivers said: "Mindless fanatical support for cycling allows brain-dead Middlesbrough Council to throw all common sense out of the window, endangering pedestrians."
U.S. Customs and Border Protection has seized 32 stolen vehicles worth more than $3 million at the Port of Houston and Port of Galveston since October 2024
The 32 stolen vehicles recovered at the port would have been illegally transported to countries in the Middle East, West Africa, Central America and South America, and sold at a 20% markup, and the proceeds laundered with drug money to make it appear that all of the money came from the sale.
Plano police arrest five people behind 29 car thefts worth $1.1 million, stolen across more than a dozen cities gyms and apartment buildings, in just two months, including Camaros and Corvettes, from parking lots across North Texas.
Investigators say the group flaunted the stolen rides on social media before selling them for cash, about $5,000 each. The thieves were renting storage units to store the stolen vehicles in.

Italy's Lake Bracciano was used as a seaplane airport, beginning in 1906, known as Aeroporto di Bracciano-Vigna di Valle, on the Southern shore, during the 1930s as part of Rome's airport infrastructure. It is only 15 miles from Rome
Rome's first international airport, Leonardo da Vinci Airport (Fiumicino), opened in 1960, gradually taking over, and now the lake is the water source for Rome, carefully protected from all pollution
The lake owes its origin to intense volcanic and tectonic activity from 600,000 to 40,000 years ago, which created many small volcanoes in the Sabatino territory. The main magma chamber was situated under the present lake of Bracciano. Its collapse created the depressed area now occupied by the lake
it serves as a drinking water reservoir for the city of Rome, it has been under control since 1986 in order to avoid pollution of its waters. The use of motorboats is strictly forbidden (exceptions being made for a few professional fishermen and the authorities), and a centralized sewer system has been built for all the bordering towns in order to avoid any spoiling of the water quality, making Bracciano one of the cleanest lakes in Italy. The absence of motorized navigation favors sailing, canoeing and swimming.
Raleigh police are seeing a new trend where criminals are building "Frankenstein cars" by combining stolen parts from high-end vehicles with the legally purchased frames of lower-end models. (thank you George!)
On July 5, a Raleigh police officer spotted what appeared to be a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk valued at $82,600, but discovered after checking the VIN that it was actually a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland that was legally purchased, just for the chassis and paperwork, then a higher-end model is stolen dismantled for the parts, and those are used to disguise the cheap vehicle with paperwork as a very expensive model, to sell for a great profit.
If police ever discover the it, or during a sales process the fakery, the new owner won’t face charges, but will lose the car and the money they spent on it.
he made fun music, and fun movies... damn shame he didn't have time to make more in his younger years
I've never seen this truck before, and I did not know that he was a spokesman for a Texas Dodge dealership
