you don't see a 50s fire fighting bucket truck in Japan every day... so this is a treat to find

TokyoTon, Sam.Joe, and Crank_Case all commented (thank you !) and identified it as an Isuzu TX
Plus it's in Kobe, and it's the 1960s

  1. I can confirm that it is indeed Japan, the truck is labeled Kobe city and is probably a 6-ton Isuzu TX560 from the late 60's

    1. Thank You! How you find interesting stuff on my blog, enough to keep coming back, and reading daily or weekly, is a mystery to me, but I thank you! And appreciate that you, and others are interested in the variety, the unreal diversity of the stuff I share, and join in with comments that help all of us identify and understand what cool stuff we are looking at!

  2. Jesse, you're right. It is Japan for sure! The Chrysanthemum Seal on the front grille of the truck is the crest used by the emperor and imperial family. Police cars in Japan have the same. Because you are interested in the truck - me too - this is an Isuzu TXD Series truck, but my guess it from the sixties, not the fifties. The best reference I could find it this Japanese blog - Google translated to English:

I was guessing Japan exactly from that grill ornament, and the characters on the license plate and fender, because in the 90s I spent a week in Japan, a week in Hong Kong, and a week in Korea, and though my recall is extremely thin, a very few memories are all of those visits, I think it was the police cars I saw that had me thinking this was Japan.

    2. Hi Sam.Joe you're close on the seal, but it's not actually the chrysanthemum (Kiku-no-hana), that is reserved only for the imperial household. The fire and police service both have their own badges. The national fire service is a 6 pointed starburst as you see in the photo, and the police service is a five pointed starburst.

    3. Jesse you have achieved a fantastic thing: entertaining a car enthusiast audience from all over the World on daily basis! I can't thank you enough!

Thank you TokyoTon! I always thought those are the same! I need to research the topic a little more. May I ask you one more thing: on the bow of the Japanese warships is also a different symbol?
