sweet little vintage gas station on the Tail Of The Dragon, and a Vette with cameras everywhere but on the damn dash where it would do some good for the viewing audience

oh wow, this is COOL and what great ingenious idea for a Hot Wheels display case! A tool box shaped carry case!! Thank you Larry!

the Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt Set Tool Box, 2500 made, and I bet more than half were simply bought to flip on Ebay, where you can buy them for about 60 dollars https://www.ebay.com/itm/276959642549 but some flippers are hoping for more like 250

just campy and 60s goofball as hell, but, Boris Karloff voiced Dr Frankenstein, designed by my favorite illustrator Jack Davis, and Frank Frazetta did the promo art! So, yeah, I'm sharing it! Bass and Rankin stop motion animation from 1967

above, Frazetta art

Above: Jack Davis art, lettering by Paul Coker, Jr. in what looks like a re-purposing, re-edit into a possible TV special version, hosted by Vincent Price.

Vincent appeared as Evil Irontail in Rankin/Bass' Here Comes Peter Cottontail (1971).

It's early for Halloween... but hell, I'm less than a week out, and why hold this until then, I figure share it now, so other people can share it too if they want to. Vincent Price, Frank Frazetta, Boris Karloff,... and I bet you've never heard of it!

ASE and the U.S. Secret Service will exhibit in a co-branded booth at AAPEX 2025

The ASE is bringing a special guest organization – the U.S. Secret Service – to their exhibit at the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX), November 4-6, 2025. The purpose of the exhibition is to drive awareness of the wide range of career opportunities available to auto technicians, including with the Secret Service.

bad timing with the govt refusing to pass a budget and pay it's employees...

also, I applied for that job in July, and was informed that a GS job that I was applying for was not going to happen without some specific amount of time in the next lower paygrade. Well, lemme inform you that I wasn't applying for starvation wage level GS level, and can not make ends meet on GS 4, or 5 income. Not in San Diego.

car insurance (200 a month), plus gas to commute to work (200-300), and most people have a car payment (300-400 a month) and rent or mortgage (2000 a month)

and that doesn't include cell phone monthly bill (100 a month) and food to eat (500 a month based on 16 dollars a day)

So, yeah, the ASE and the Secret Service are hoping to get young people to be car mechanics, just like the trucking industry, and every other faction of employers is hoping to get young people to accept entry level wages, and do the same work as seasoned employees with years of experience.... because they won't pay a wage equal to the amount of income it takes to live in So Cal, and I imagine it's not enough to live near Washington DC either.

6 fuel stabilizers were tested over 5 years, to see what the long term results were on gas. None of the fuel stabilizers prevented fuel from becoming stale after 20 months (skip to minute 7:50)

I don't remember ever seeing these tail lights before

"let’s mount a cannon in the trunk, fire it downward, and blast this Impala into the sky like Evel Knievel in a steel coffin" (Hal Needham invented the car flipping canon, and this was it's 1st use) A movie review of McQ, the John Wayne movie with a Trans Am in 1974 Thank you Doug!

https://captainmycaptain.blog/2025/10/25/movie-review-mcq/

I haven't seen that movie in decades, and didn't make the connection when I saw it what a similarity there was between McQ and Bullitt.

that kid seems to be sure that gravity and Murphys Law will soon have that Impala's tail lights the right distance from the ground thank you John!

racing and wrecking

Mick Jagger honking the horn of a '69 Rambler American, license plate XXK 332 I think... anyway, if you know of that Rambler still on the road with that license plate.... get Mick to sign some part of that car while he's still alive. Thank you Steve!

The photo was taken by Robert Altman outside Elektra Records on La Cienega Blvd. in Los Angeles, while Mick was honking the horn while it was being recorded for beginning (and end) of the song "Country Honk" on the Rolling Stones’ 1969 album "Let it Bleed."

"Country Honk " is a country version of "Honky Tonk Women" and while it was recorded first, it was released later than "Honky Tonk Women."

Did you hear about the Tesla Cemetery Challenge? Seems Tesla is having fun during the Halloween season, and driving past headstones causes the lidar/radar system to display ghosts on the dashboard display screen

the car's object detection system is misinterpreting stationary objects like tombstones, flower arrangements, or other large objects as people. The videos showing this are real, but the "ghosts" are the result of sensor glitches and algorithmic artifacts

Ai fake news footage video sent to a NBC Chicago ch 5 news station, who ran with it, and broadcast it.... without verifying that it's legit. It seems to be satire made by the racetrack's social media marketing people, who are getting big numbers on Facebook

the video's caption said the power company turned the lights off during the race to intimidate the track owners so they'd pay their bill.

“We later found out the power company in the area cut the lights to intimidate the track owners into paying their electric bill on time,” the reporter explained on-air, pulling info from the post’s caption that was written in broken English. “The track then gave each car in the wreck an extra $5 to go toward repair work.”

I am surprised to see it's on ice, with summer tires too...

Smokey and the Reverse Torque Special

incredible... a Ranger 4x4 that stayed with it's first owner since 1989 and they didn't driver it, and didn't ignore it, they kept it beautiful, and only sold it months ago to someone flipping it on Bring a Trailer

one of my favorite comic strips comes out with an annual big soft cover of the whole years worth, so fans can binge read the whole years adventures of a teen ager and his life living with parents, coping with school, and etc.. Zits. Here's a couple snips from this years book

I've been buying the annual for about 20 years now... it is released in Sept/Oct every year

I bet the ads in old yellow pages would be interesting to look through

I never would have guessed that Burl Ives had a clue about cars, and then today, I heard him singing about a Chevy with dual carbs Got a hotrod Chevy with a twin carburetor

"Got a hotrod Chevy with a twin carburetor"

do NOT listen to the song, it's annoying

"Today I learned" brought to you by Mike... did anyone of you know this about the common fuse?

The hack of Jaguar Land Rover cost the British economy an estimated $2.55 billion dollars and affected over 5,000 organizations

the hack caused a six-week shutdown

I'm loving the nose art on this A 10.... thank you George!

I get a kick out of the mustache!

this Vette was WOT on the Big Bend Open Road Race and left lookin’ like a toasty marshmallow. (average speed of 173.004 mph over the course of 118 miles)

the camera is mostly following the white roadster, with the orange racing stripes, it's a Hitachi. There's lots of cars I don't recognize. It's not fast, just interesting

the "go kart Terror!" lol.... hell, now I want to go watch CHiPS episodes for all the corny hammed up acting and ridiculous 70s plot lines, plus, the guest star actors and actresses (In the truck is Sonny Bono and Larry Storch)
