Terrible Herbst was a gas station owner in the 1940s, founded a gas station/convivence store/casino in 1959, and his son is now the CEO of the company/race team.
Maybe this kid is acting, or maybe, he was given shit dialog and told to just shut up and drive, or maybe he's really this effing annoying. Whatever, it's not like I'm ever going to run into him or give a shit about how he comes across to actress/models on his you tube video career.
But you'd think a manager, a friend, or even Gittin, would have pointed out how unlikeable his character comes across. If you can't like him, you can't root for him, you can't be a fan. Drivers, races, and series only exist to create a fan base so the sponsors can sell product.
I haven't followed NASCAR for a few years, but I've never heard of him. I looked up the standings, and he was second to last of the drivers who ran every race this season, finishing in 35th place. The Trophy truck part was pretty cool, but except for a few donuts, he's just driving the cup car around while Gittin drifts around him.
ReplyDeleteI've got the notion that his rich family got him a ride, or paid to build him the team, simply to keep him occupied and happy. Spoiled rich kids aren't good at racing, just wealthy enough to get on the track, after all, just to be a driver is an indicator that the family was rich enough to put the person through years of starter leagues of racing, from carts to formula 3, or whatever the case may be for nascar... Hey, i'd love to have had a rich family pay my way through it too, like John Force's daughters, Petty and Earnhardt's kids and grand kids, etc. After all, the top ten on the track are followed by dozens of racers we never hear of, as nothing but the top ten make the news. This video was probably just an attempt at social media marketing to create an awareness/buzz, because like I noticed, it's been a long time since anyone made a video, the Monster marketing has been noticeably quite for years, and Gittin hasn't done anything for a while to drum up publicity either.... just more of the same of whatever he does, isn't going to keep him in any spotlight
