Among Michigan’s largest and most well-known historic bridges is the Cut River Bridge, it even has a set of stairways, as part of the original design, that takes pedestrians under the bridge where they can view the supporting trusses.
The bridge has a total of 888 tons of structural steel, it is 641 feet long, and its height over the Cut River is 147 feet. It offers views of Lake Michigan from its deck.
The bridge is one of only two cantilevered deck truss bridges in Michigan. The State Highway Department designed this structure, and W.J. Meager and Sons, Contractors, built it.
It was known as “The Million Dollar Bridge Over the Ten Cent River” and was constructed between 1940 and the end of World War II, and is among Michigan’s largest and most well-known historic bridges.
Now that is why you have a real camera and I am going to se3 about that in the morning!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I used to have a good camera, it was stolen about 3 years ago out of my car, along with my grab bag of DeWalt portable tools... someone spotted that I forgot to lock my car, and since they'd seen me open my hatchback a couple times with the yellow and black trademark colored DeWalt grab bag, I'm certain it was my hard working (serious hard labor guys) neighbors. I almost don't feel bad about it... the camera was about worn out, the portable drill was too, and both were about 8 years old. Insurance took care of the dollar value! So, I'm not bad off. The replacement portable De Walt grab bag of stuff is better than the original, I'm now using 18 watt, instead of 12 watt
