  1. These days you're all the news and entertainment I need. Thorough, wide ranging and humorous. Thank you for sharing your light with me.

    1. you just made my day, and reminded me that I'm on the downward slope of weekly posts, now that I'm back to work.
My new schedule is 3 to midnight, and it's really changed the way I go through a day, compared to my 8 to 4 previous job, and 7 to 3 from covid to a year ago.
It's was a LOT easier to get home after work on the old schedule, eat around 5 to 6, and just surf the net until 10 or so, got to sleep and do it all over again the next day, than I find it to get home around 1 am, catch up on emails etc, go to sleep around 2, wake up around 11, and then know that I am in a time crunch where I can only surf the net until about 1, then I need to go grab food and head to work, knowing that the traffic jams are a big factor in how long it takes to get to work, 30 minutes away.
So, now I only have maybe 2 hours a day to look for more stuff to post, no time to really dive into researching a post like the Interurban Diner near Whitehall, that was the Merlin railcar from Grand Haven to Muskegon, etc... and is now a museum piece. All from one postcard image. That one post turned out to take 6 hours to fully finish.
Dang it, I'm really enjoying the time I put into the blog, but now? Better paying job with about a 10% raise from the last, and every previous job, better shift because I sleep the best from 5 am to 11 am, and now 9-80 shift so every other Friday off!
Just less time to enjoy working on the blog

    4. there are so many good things in the archives! I can't guess how long it will take to look through them, because no one has started at the beginning and told me they ever caught up to the present. One guy tried, but family and life got in the way frequently, and his efforts were challenged by several months of interruptions. I know how that can happen, my efforts to just get a job and glide along at it while I dig deeper into hobbies like blogging and learning music, have been interrupted by first, Covid in 2020, looking for a job in the fall of 2020, then again in 2024, and now 2025.
I don't know how many times you've ever been between jobs, but it's very unsettling to life as usual, and stress inducing, and it takes a while for the chaos to settle down and things get back to a comfort zone normal.
