Yes, that is a pig, on an elephant, riding a scooter, singing Italian love songs on the dandelion moon of Pluto. Many of you have kids or grandkids, and might like to share this kids book with them, that has been recorded on Youtube, so YOU don't have to do the voices yourself

Pete and Pickles, by Berkeley Breathed (Pulitzer Prize winner (I hope to win a Pulitzer too, someday))

read aloud by Bob Gardner, who seems to have recorded the books for his kids. He has a dozen other books on you tube as well.  https://www.youtube.com/@bobgardner4323/videos

That's, pretty damn cool and thoughtful. You know? Imagine if your grandparents, parents, or favorite baby sitter had lived in a time when they could have done this - and shared the books online with kids, when circumstances made living apart at great distances unavoidable.

Pete and Pickles, by Berkeley Breathed has been adapted into a movie that hits theaters in November, it's called HitPig  https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2025/05/i-didnt-know-vw-van-could-fly-i-mean.html

  1. I recognized the artwork of Berkeley Breathed in the picture from his work in Bloom County. IFRC, he uses a dandelion meadow as a peaceful place for the characters in that comic strip. He also just used the "Nighthawks" diner painting in his online Bloom County Boys strip, like in this book.

We talked back in 2021 about how Breathed included some Calvin & Hobbes content in Bloom County, too.

    1. He does have a cool signature style! Thanks for the link to the version of the Hopper painting, I think it's a hoot that so many things are somehow connected, like the van in HitPig, brings me to the source material from Berkeley Breathed, which brings you to recall the Nighthawks painting Breathed did, and lol, I posted that once! https://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2019/01/wow-strange-co-incidence-i-just-learned.html
Oh, that Calvin and Hobbes crossover with Breathed was great!
