Citroen towing 250 GTO, (chassis 5095 GT), entered by Scuderia SSS Venezia, Tour de France Automobile, September 14-22 1963 (World Sportscar Championship, round 21) finished second ... thank you CoSC!

thank you readers for telling me about the Ferrari! It IS appreciated!

damn, it's been a while since I've seen the duct tape side mirror repair!

Thank you William S for ringing my tip jar! Thank you Sam for the fuel system treatment!

I love it, this still has some lettering on it from when it was a business truck!

now and then I get to get into a fire dept while on the job. Yesterday I was in two, and both had display cases of museum pieces

I never heard of a Plectron before!

and I never heard of a "Disposable Obstetrical Kit"

there is something relaxing and cool about breaking through all the clustered traffic on the freeway, and getting clean air, and lots of space ahead of you

Allstate lost a class action suit, result for the people involved? Thirteen dollars.

more Christmas spirit cars!

I like the whole reindeer antler and Rudolf nose, but few do the white tail deer tail like below!

the story of the 6888th was made into a movie! But dang, though it gets into HOW they pulled off such an incredible organization, it also spends over an hour on back story, motivation, and love story

seriously, skip the 20 minutes, then after a couple minutes, jump to the 54 minute mark.

After that they get into how they accomplished the nearly impossible task of sorting 17 million pieces of mail

But the 1st thing that jumped at me was that NO ONE paid attention to the officer pin on the hats when the women start boot camp (compare above and below)  not the actresses, costume dept, cinematographer, director, assistant director, and all the extras, grips, sound crew, etc? They didn't even catch it in the dailies!

thanks to Gary, Bruce, Bill, Chuck, and Jerry for the Xmas cards, and compliments!

the stars and stripes Captain America helmet worn by Peter Fonda during the movie was up for auction recently... it was taken from the movie set in 1969 by the film's Assistant Director and has been part of his collection ever since

the paint wasn't meant to last longer than the movie production and so the fragile material flakes when handled. So much of the original paint has flaked off that it looks awful, and it failed to get a single bid over the minimum bid of $25,000.

The distinctive flight helmet worn by Tom Cruise as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell in the 1986 movie "Top Gun" sold for $406,250 in 2021

The most expensive movie helmet ever sold was Darth Vader's mask and helmet from "Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980)" which fetched USD $1,152,000 in September 2019

but the record for most expensive headware at auction, is now the Wizard of Oz witch of the East hat, it sold for USD $2,930,000 two weeks ago in December 2024

The Disneyland Monorail will be closing soon for a scheduled refurbishment

A company that sells replacement winter tires is recalling more than 541,000 of them in the U.S. because they don’t have enough snow traction to meet North American standards

Prinx Chengshan Tires is recalling Fortune Tormenta and Prinx Hicountry tires with three-peak mountain snowflake symbols on the sidewalls.

I have been quite distracted lately, and haven't had much time to stay up to date on a lot of cool stuff, but it is SUCH a pleasure to share the cool art of Stefan Marjoram with you, his new 70s nostalgia Matchbox

pretty cool effect, the moisture getting moved out from centrifugal force
